No Need For Mornings!

Tenchi Masaki's day started when he opened his eyes to look directly into the furry face of Ryo-ohki.

He blinked a few times, tried to get the twin cabbits to settle into one, ended up picking Ryo-ohki up and setting her back down a little further down his chest. "Good morning Ryo-ohki," he said. The cabbit purred and meowed. "What are you doing in my room?" From outside his slightly-open door came the giggle of a young girl. "Sasami?" Tenchi inquired.

The door slid open to reveal the blue ponytailed Second Princess of Jurai. She hid her mouth behind a hand, her eyes squeezed shut in glee. "I had Ryo-ohki wake you up for breakfast," she said.

Tenchi smiled. "I'll be down in a minute," he said to Sasami. He petted Ryo-ohki on the head, then shooed the cabbit off his bed with a chuckle. Ryo-ohki ran toward the door as Sasami closed it, quite by accident. The cabbit ran headlong into the door, bounced back three feet and head-over-feet twice, shook her head, stood up, ran at the door again, and phased through.

At the exact moment Ryo-ohki passed through Tenchi's door, Ryoko's silvery spikes of hair appeared through his wall, followed by her golden eyes, then the rest of her head and shoulders. Oh, Tenchi, she cooed.

Tenchi flailed around in fright for a moment. -Ryoko!

"I was so hoping you'd go for a walk with me after breakfast, Tenchi, that I just couldn't wait to ask you." At that exact moment, Aeka was coming up the stairs. The space pirate had overheard the First Princess of Jurai talking to herself about how she'd like to take a walk with Tenchi to enjoy the day. Ryoko had resolved to get to Tenchi first, by virtue of her superior abilities of motion, and had come straight away. It's such a nice day... Ryoko's singsong tone dropped into dark annoyance. "I bet that stuffy princess will try to steal you away and make you take a walk with her."

A knock on the door caught Tenchi's attention. Making use of the distraction, Ryoko slipped through the wall the rest of the way and into Tenchi's bed on the other side of Tenchi, under the covers. "Who is it?" Tenchi asked.

"Aeka," said the voice on the other side of the door. Aeka smiled, pleased that she had not disturbed him.

"Oh, Aeka, come in."

Aeka pulled back the door and stepped into the room. "Good morning, Lord Tenchi. How did you sleep?"

Tenchi smiled, put a hand behind his head. "Great. Sasami said breakfast is ready."

At that moment, Ryoko sat up with her eyes closed, holding the covers of the bed up to herself from the inside, revealing only her neck and head. She yawned, opened her eyes slowly. "Who's there, Tenchi?" she asked sleepily.

Aeka's face fell from smile to twisted snarl in no time flat. "Ryoko! What are you doing in Lord Tenchi's room?" she demanded in a no-nonsense tone.

Tenchi spun his head around to look at Ryoko, his eyes wide. "Ryoko, what are you doing?"

"But Tenchi, it's no good to deny it now," Ryoko protested. "After everything we've been through, how can you deny our love?"

"Oooooohhhhh, you... you... floozy!" Aeka's hands clenched into fists and her body shook with rage. "How dare you?"

"Didn't take a dare at all, sister."

Tenchi hopped out of the bed before Ryoko and Aeka ended up colliding with him in the middle. "Now, Aeka," Tenchi said, laughing nervously. "This isn't what you think at all..."

Aeka's attention was focused completely on Ryoko. "You'll pay for this!" She leapt all the way across the room, landing on the bed inches from Ryoko, her face flopping down where the silver-haired woman would have been had she not vanished. "Oof!"

Ryoko's head poked back through the wall. "Gotcha, Princess," she laughed before disappearing again.

That woman...” Aeka sighed as she picked herself up. Composing herself, she turned to Tenchi. "Sasami is waiting for us. Shall we go?"

Tenchi just smiled weakly at Aeka's mood swings. Yeah, sure...
