OVA series "RYO-OHKI"

BASIC CONCEPT (Summary)

An extremely normal boy suddenly receives some very special (beautiful girls from outer space) visitors one day, triggering the chain of events to follow. This story describes the common perceptions of the world for boys, for which can be considered as the governing rule of Original Video Animation.

Aside from this perception of the world, there is also the legend of the fight between the Dragon and the Demon 700 years ago, the battles in space and all types of breathtaking scenery, plus the captivating plot, to form this work -- "Ryo-ohki."

Time -- the present. Location includes the Kurashiki village, the Masaki Shrine, and space....

Masaki Tenchi	17	M	Protagonist. Second year in high school (i.e. a Junior in US system). Because of his curiousity, he accidently revived the female demon of the legend that was sealed in the mountain behind his family shrine.
Ryouko	17?	F	The female demon of the legend who was sealed in the Masaki Shrine. Lost her powers after a struggle with Tenchi, and temporarily resides in the Masaki household. Is a beauty.
Masaki Aeka	22?	F	Princess of Planet Jurai. Rushes towards earth when she learned of Ryouko's revival. Lost ability to return home after battling with the demon spirit, also temporarily lives at the Masaki home. Also a beauty.
Masaki Sasami	15?	F	Aeka's younger sister. Beautiful.
Mihoshi	22?	F	A Galaxy Police detective who arrives on earth while searching for a villainess space pirate.
Washuu		M	Number one mad scientist of the universe.
Washuu	15?	F	Washuu's true form. Beautiful.
Masaki Nobuyuki	40	M	Tenchi's father.

This story comes from a very interesting legend.

Long ago, near Kurashiki, there came a demon from the sky. The demon was large enough to cross a mountain in a single bound, and is very violent. Its eyes can emit a dangerous weapon (ray-type weapon), which can demolish anything. The entire country turned into a state of chaos.

The people began praying to god, "Oh god, please punish the evil demon that came out of nowhere!"

Maybe it was their prayers to god were answered, suddenly a dragon enveloped in elegant white light appeared in the sky (use this as the space ship), and challenged the evil demon.

The ferocious battle ensued for seven days and seven nights, and the dragon finally defeats the evil demon, and sealed it into a mountain. Also created a shrine for offerings. The dragon lost the strength to return to the skies, finally turned into a human, got married with a woman from the village, and lived happily ever after.

Tenchi is a normal and unnoticeable high school boy. During summer vactaion one day, out of curiousity, he accidentally freed the female demon that was sealed in the mountain behind the Masaki Shrine of his old home. The female demon calls herself Ryouko, decides to take out her anger from being seal for 700 years on Tenchi. Knowing that he was no match for the challenge of the demon, Tenchi reaches for the legendary sword that sealed Ryouko in the legends, and takes away the female demon's power for the purpose of self- preservation. Ryouko, having lost her powers, decides to stay at Tenchi's home for the time being, and thus begins Tenchi's life of trouble with women.

After finding out of Ryouko's resurrection, Masaki Aeka, the princess of Planet "Jurai" comes to earth alone in search of Yosho (who lost contact chasing Ryouko).

Ryouko notices that someone has tracked her, and revives her own space ship, "Ryo-ohki," in the hopes of evading capture, but under Aeka's overwhelming firepower, gets caught along with Tenchi. Aeka finds out from the two that Yosho has died a long time ago on earth, and becomes shocked.

Ryouko notices Tenchi's family heirloom -- the sword, is the "Master Key" of Masaki's family ship, and schemes a way of stealing it for escape.

"Ryo-ohki" and Aeka's ship, "Ryuoh" begin fierce battle in the sky, resulting in a crash landing, finally sinking into the sea.

After the fierce battle with Ryouko, Aeka loses her means of transportation back to her home planet, becomes stranded along with her younger sister, Sasami, and finally must live at Tenchi's home, just like Ryouko.

The bizarre combination of the revived demon that was sealed for 700 years -- Ryouko, alien princesses Aeka and Sasami, and Tenchi, now all reside in the Masaki household in Kurashiki. Thus begins the third episode.

Ryouko brings back an egg from the crashed wreck of Ryo-ohki, and from this egg hatches a small, cat-like animal, "the second generation Ryo-ohki." This is the infant of the deceased space battleship "Ryo-ohki."

After Aeka found out that she will never be reunited with her fiance, Yosho, she has been living in a state of shock, always depressed, and careless towards the world around her.

But, one day she happens to see Tenchi practice his family swords-play in the mountain behind the shrine, and notices a resemblance between him and the deceased Yosho (because Tenchi is a descendant of Yosho), and her feelings begin to change.

This marks the beginning of the jealous battles between Aeka and Ryouko.

Time flies by, and it's once again winter. This year the Masaki household continues their annual hot-spring trip... except now there's the addition of Aeka, Sasami, Ryouko, and the "infant form" of Ryo-ohki.

In the onsen at the inn, Aeka and Ryouko once again start arguing over small matters. Ryouko calls forth elemental demons during the crazyness, leaving the inn in a state of panic.

Tenchi notices an unconscious woman at the side of the road while working in the fields, and brings her home.

The woman's name is "Mihoshi," she claims to be a Galaxy Police detective who came to earth in pursuit of an evil space pirate.

However, when the Galaxy Police detective notices Ryouko right before her eyes, she suddenly jumps up from her weak state, and begins a fierce battle with her. Although at Mihoshi is losing badly, Ryouko suddenly drops everything, as if she noticed something.

This is because she noticed "Washuu," who is the creator of Ryouko and Ryo-ohki, and one of the top mad scientists in the universe.

Washuu considers Ryouko and Ryo-ohki to be his failed projects, so went in his own space battle ship, "Ryo-ou," to come and dismantle them. Tenchi tries to protect Ryouko and Aeka, and engages in battle, but Tenchi proved to be no match for "Ryo-ou" and dissipates in space.

Seeing first hand Tenchi's dissipation in space, Ryouko, Aeka, and Sasami were both stunned and enraged, so Ryouko and Aeka swithed into their perspective battle suits to infiltrate Washhuu's ship for a hand-to-hand battle. Under Washuu's overwhelming power, they draw closer and closer to death.

Suddenly, a person lends them a helping hand, and this person is none other than Tenchi, who they had presumed was dead. Aeka and Ryouko rush joyfully towards Tenchi to embrace him.

It turns out that when he was near the brink of death, Tenchi obtained the assistance of the most powerful ship of Planet Jurai, "Tsunami," which restored his health, and even strengthened his physical body.

After a long and fierce struggle, Tenchi finally defeats Washuu.

Just before Ryo-ou is about to explode, a young girl appears in front of the threesome, claiming to be the real Washuu, that the one Tenchi defeated is her shadow, and the purpose of the battle was to test the level of Ryouko's growth.

Under the guidance of Washuu, they successfully escape from Ryo-ou just as it explodes.

Surrounded by four girls (Ryouko, Aeka, Sasami, and Washuu) who are in love with him, Tenchi begins his new life with a mixture of happiness and sorrow.
