Terrible
Early one morning
people gathering in the streets
the twin brothers yawn
taller than the rest
into their gaping mouths files
a bird with a tail of flame
the people witness
another atrocity
the brothers tremble
the people gasp
I watch her
she starts crying
A father worked there
proud of a big promotion
and the new car he brought her
such fragile happiness
felt for an instant
the fire tailed bird sings
the brothers fall
I watch her
as she is crying
Impossibilities realized
everything becomes nothing
We will retaliate...
We will make them pay...
that's what the men on the television say
but she doesn't hear them
I am watching her
she continues crying
Buildings stained red
with the blood of the sun
framed by smoke
everywhere, smoke
the world kept on turning.
As I watched her
she was still crying.
