Just so you know, there actually is a purpose to doing this. If you do this, you'll get one of every item (granted that you already don't have 3 of everything else). I'm not sure if it effects anything else in the game, but judging from the humor of it all as well as the game's nearly 100% non-linearity and lack of "flag commands" in the programing (i.e. programming commands that tell the game "this area opens up only when THIS happens" or "if THIS happens then THIS will happen"), I serriously doubt it; I always beat the game doing this, so I don't know.
