You are going to need Real Player to view these clips. Download time is negligible. Netscape is a little temperamental with video, in fact, this whole site looks plain weird in any browser other than Internet Explorer. If for any (other) reason these clips do not work on your system, please let me know. I want to make this stuff available to as many people as possible.

well, you are now looking at the reason I started collecting. In short, this is it. I don't know how else to put it except...it leaves me speechless. Measuring 15 inches long, this cel was used in a pan shot and has four layers. The bottom ~ his body, armor, and head ~ is an A-1 end cel. The second layer consists of his hair, tassels, and the bottom of his shirt. This shot also contained light effects, so the cel has a layer of black paint. That added paint along with the four layers makes for one heavy cel. The douga is also really interesting. They actually drew his whole body under that shirt, which you never really see. I still don't believe I get to look at this one every day. |

This shot takes place in episode one just before Hitomi and Van "meet" for the first time. Van has the greatest entry of any hero I've seen. He floats down, and literally presents himself to the camera. Here he is, in a foreign world, but still manages to arrive with a grace that gives me the chills. Of course, right after this shot he starts acting like the snot he wants everyone to believe he is....but I love how this initial depiction foreshadows his true character. Basically, he doesn't know how cool he is. I dig that. |

I really hate to toot my own horn but...this one is so very kick butt. And since you've made it this far into the site, I'll confess something to you. Escaflowne is really my favorite anime. (Shhh, DBZ fans can be pretty sensitive) I held off buying from this series until I found a pic I couldn't possibly let slip. So enjoy this one, 'cuz I certainly do. |

For those of you that don't watch Escaflowne (blasphemers!), this shot is from the very end of the closing credits; hence the words written all over his face. (Megan, you smart ass) Here The Prince lifts his head to the sun and smiles ever so slightly. The closing of Escaflowne was key-framed by the same animator who drew most of the gorgeous final battle between Van and Allen. Yeah, I think that artist is just a wee bit talented. |
