Episode 1 S A Read at your own risk EPISODE 1: Requiem From within the wind, rain and carnage on the ground rises an ominous figure highlighted by the lightning around him. The angry and menacing figure cries out as 5 warriors stand in his way. And from the beasts rage raises his hydra... A light spreads it's glow across the land as the scene falls upon the Sforzando kingdom. In a chamber, the guardian priests have gathered and one by one they begin to collapse. Laden in darkness two voices break the silence and speak as one, one much elder than the other. They speak of how it's now their time to break free - after 15 years their time has finally come. But someone stands determined in his way. The Queen of Sforzando stands before the cocky boy with an elder head in his right hand who the Queen addressed as Hell King Bass. The Queen attempts to demonstrate her power against him, but the Hell King shows he's not to be surpressed any longer. The Queen doesn't care for his boasting even though now he seems to be right and she vows to protect even if it means her life. The King scoffs at her as he proclaims the greatest evil yet to be unleashed. **** A small farm house holds a scrawny yet perplexed looking figure, staring into a mirror. A horn upon his head that had not been there the day before. In his voice he hears a woman speak of his two ways and he's yet more confused. His thoughts are interrupted by a girl not much his junior. Unaware of his situation she rushes about around him, questioning his daily routine as he slips on a hat to hide his horn. She continues to rush about in anticipation for the upcoming Harvest Festival she's been anticipating. As she nearly runs over her Grandfather, the young lady - Flute - grabs the boy - Hamel - by the hand and rushes out the door... almost forgetting his violin. As she rushes out the door she calls for Oboe - the crow that sat by the window watching the whole time - to come with them. Flute drags now nervous Hamel through the town as he tries to keep a tight hold on his hat which concealed his horn. On a cliff above the sleepy town stands a lone man. He's desecrate in his actions but the man is on a mission - not yet known. He releases a bird into the sky with a message on it's leg... but from above the tree tops the bird is attacked by tentacles - the man spins around to face an unknown advisory. An eerie voice speaks that he will find someone - the man hasn't time to react before his fate is the same as the birds. As Flute and Hamel run down a path the man tumbles down the cliff from his perch. Flute shrieks but is puzzled by the injured stranger. She rushes to help, but Hamel stays back. Flute kneels by his side and the man begins to utter her name in wonder as Flute tries to keep him quiet. After some pushing by Flute, Hamel comes over to help as well. Enroute to Sforzando, the bird re-appears. Flute and Hamel bring the injured stranger to their home and lets him rest. As Flute disappears Hamel wonders about the rule they just broke. The rule that states never to bring a stranger to the village. A most unusual rule for such a tiny and peaceful town. Yet, Hamel is a stranger... and he is allowed to stay. Flute returns with a bundle in her arms. Hamel grabs his violin and prepares to go back to the festival, but Flute stops him, and holds out some clothes for him that he will be wearing at the festival when he performs. Hamel is reluctantly tackled by Flute who dresses him up in the new clothes she made for him. Hamel takes a moment to let Flute marvel at him in his new outfit before he darts out the door - already late. Flute follows after him but stops and throws him one last accessory to his outfit - a hat. *eye catch* Queen Horn stands on her balcony in the middle of the night looking out. In her hand is the note from the stranger at the village and the bird on her balcony edge. Again the eerie voice of Hell King Bass enters her mind. He's pleased with himself, and has begun to set his plan into action. As he boasts, the bird next to her becomes overwhelmed by a spirit and is killed. Hamel along with other entertainers have begun to liven up the village party late at night. Flute's grandfather - Reishk - sits himself down just outside of the gathering, and is joined by a few concerned friends. Reishk is worried because Flute is missing. The others brush it off and tell Reishk not to worry about her so much. Reishk looks to the sky and is puzzled - there are too many stars in the sky. Again the topic of Hamel's past arises. And Reishk begins to ponder why Hamel was allowed to stay and why Flute pays so much attention to this "stranger". But Hamel suddenly disappears. Running through the forest is Flute, dragging Hamel along behind her as she rushes back to her cottage. Their visor has fallen very ill and now she didn't know what to do. She cannot tell her grandfather because she brought him here and that was against the rule. But she cannot hid him any longer, because Reishk followed her back - and he is not happy with either of them. Reishk prepares his lecturing, but stops and eyes the sword brought by the stranger. Immediately he orders Flute and Hamel to leave. After the door shuts Reishku kneels down by the strangers bedside. Reishk: "I see, they finally sent you." From within the stranger emerges the beast the once consumed him back in the forest. Flute and Hamel are barely away from the house before Reisk is thrown from the house as it is destroyed. The two freeze as Reisk is caught up in the tentacles of the monster and begs for Princess Flute to run away. Flute stands on the ground below - confused. Bass's confident voice grows again as his seeds grow ripe. From within her chambers Queen Horn's statues begin to come to life and take on demonic forms. They charge at the unprepared Queen but a huge flash of light incinerates them in their tracks. Queen Horn gathers herself and looks to the source. With an apology for intruding, Commander Clari stands in her door way, having used his powers to rid the chamber of the demon. Flute and Hamel race down the forest path, pursued by the demon. And as they race closer to the stunned villagers, Reishku's voice is heard above all else. Everyone must protect Princess Flute. Everyone in the town begin to converge on the monster as Flute and Hamel run by, again the title of Hime is spoken and Flute becomes more confused by the title attached to her name. But as Flute pauses the tentacles from the demon wrap around her and lift her from the ground. The stars in the sky begin to fall and Hamel screams out for Flute. Emotionlessly the monster speaks of catching the Princess. Everyone begins to realize that the stars falling from the sky are pieces of Queen Horn's protective barrier. Yet as everyone gawks, Hamel stands in the middle screaming. Images, of a past, forgotten, flash before him and again his two ways are mentioned by a soft female voice. Hamel drops to his knees, short of breath. He looks over to his violin on the ground. Amused, Bass's laugh is heard again. He's started is quest, the barrier is disappearing. But he stops in his proclamation of victory... the sounds of a solo violinist enter the chambers. In the midst of the destruction stands Hamel, his violin upon his shoulder, his bow in hand... and he plays. Everything stops as he does. But the monster reacts and sends it's tentacles forth. From the sky above, Oboe shoots down commanding Hamel to keep playing. "Mozart's Requiem" Reishk: "The mass music to give rest to the souls of the
dead." Flute and Reishk are dropped by the monster. All stand back as Hamel's playing causes the monster to shrivel away. Bass is not impressed by this, and brushes it off for a requiem for the human kind, not the Mazoku. But Queen Horn disagrees - it's a music for blessing. To bless Pandora's Box which controls the destiny of a war already begun. And to protect the 5 warriors sworn to protect it. The stranger speaks his last words to Flute, about Sforzando, about her Mother; the Queen and how she must go see her. Again, Hamel hears the soft feminine voice, the two ways are his. |
