Such a nifty li'l robot. He actually manages to look kinda creepy, all things considered. All the Ryuu have a specific element, used mostly for their summoning sequence; Shutell's is 'Dark.' He's so evil!
That would be Bakuretsumaru's hand flying across the screen; from episode 11, as Sarutobi snaps and launches his first attack against Gulden. (The footage is reused in episodes 22 & 40 for recapping previous events.)
Let's hear it for buying en masse! It's the only way to fly.
This cel comes in during episode 47, as Gesshin swoops in to deliver a surprise attack, from episode 47.
I love how it shows off the helmet design, in profile. Just looks very nifty.
It really looks like a samurai, which of course...is a good thing, considering that he's supposed to be one.

I've got a cute little toy of this one. It's lots of fun; I wish I could get the others, though. They're like the little Gundam models, in that one gets to put them together oneself. And they even come with the Ryuu cards!
Of course, we haven't caught Derringer in his best moment, here.. Derringer's suffering a bit at the hands (or, more accurately, the spiky scorpion-esque tail) of one of the Dooms, from episode 49.
Since it was my first cel of him I put it here.
This cel comes from ep. 3, but is actually mismatched in layers. The Bakuretsumaru layer comes from the first scene with this set-up, as Adeu and Sarutobi face off against the monster; the Adeu layer comes from a similar scene after Paffy has defeated the 'monster.' This one really confused me for a while. ^^;;
The cels are also used in the recap in episode 40.
It's a very dramatic redesign, much moreso than Zephyr's. He ends up looking pretty cool, though.
This one's also interesting because some of the areas are completely unpainted for the sake of the special effects. Unfortunately, it's also rather stuck to the sketch, so it's harder to appreciate it.

I'd love to get a shot of him farther back, that shows off a bit more of the body; of course, this close, and you can see his pretty eyes. ^_^
It's always struck me as odd that the robots get such human eyes, but I can't say as I don't like it.

I like his shiny little head-crescent.
He gets cute little scarf thingies. That seems to be a sign of increased power -- scarf thingies. I wonder...if I wear scarf thingies, will people think I'm more powerful?
Maybe it's the whole deal with the illusion of increased size, like how cats puff up to look more intimidating. Y'know?
