I was a little resistant to getting into this whole rilezu thing. It seemed like a lot of money for non-production artwork. I've never been much for reproductions, or the ilk. So what changed my mind? I could say that it was a realization that they're still one of a kind, still lovely works of art, or that they're simply as close as it's going to get to a production cel for series that had none.
The honest answer, though, is that it's motherfucking Akabane.
That's some hat.
He was most definitely my favourite character from GetBackers. There's just too much to be liked about him.
It's been a while, so I'm not positive, but I believe this is the scene in which Akabane is expressing his fondness for his new "partner," who has made - and failed in - a desperate bid to escape Akabane's partnership.
There's always been something about polite evil that I really appreciate.
This is one I particularly wanted, since it actually shows off one of his weapons, the Bloody Sword. If my memory serves, he's in the midst of his battle with Ban.
I really would've liked a scene that includes a scalpel, but I've never seen any such rilezu.
All the same, I like the sword, and I really like the layout of this shot, with Akabane and his sword each angling across the screen in opposite directions. It's a very dynamic shot, to contrast against the above two rather static images.
