Story:

Anne is an orphan girl who comes to the Cuthberts family, who lives in "Green Gables", a Canadian farm. But the orphanage sent her by mistake: the Cuthberts indeed wanted to adopt a boy, who could have helped them in their work on the farm. However, they grow to like Anne, and decide to keep her with them.

Personal comments:

I have never seen the series, but it's one of the most popular WMT in Japan (among with the others Takahata directed). Note that the character design was made by the late Yoshifumi KONDO (director of Mimi wo sumaseba), and that the story seems to be rather shôjo...

Anne in Canada:

Anne was last broadcasted on the French Canadian channel CBC-French in June 1996.

Anne in Germany:

The series has been broadcasted on Kabel 1; last time from January to March 98. You can hear a sound file of the new German opening on Mike's account.

Anne in Italy:

The series is often on the air on the RAI channels. It last broadcasts took place in June/July 97 (RAI 1), October 98, late 1999 and in year 2000 (twice on RAI 2 and once on RAI 1). Anne has an opening song interpreted by "I ragazzi dai capelli rossi".
