1981: Swiss Family Robinson
Version française

1981:
The Robinson Family lost at sea : Vroni on the wondrous island
kazoku robinson hyôryuuki fushigina shima no furoone

The story:

The Story of the Robinsons, who decide to leave their native Switzerland to settle in Australia. But during the journey, the ship is stuck in a tempest, and they ground on a desert island. They are the only survivors, and they'll have to learn to live alone, far from the civilisation, with the few objects they have brought from the ship, and, above all, a great deal of ingenuity!

The Robinson family

Personal comments:

The only anime that will teach you how to make shoes and candle if you ground on a tropical island!^_^ The ressourceness of the Robinsons, and the precision of the description of their daily life will delight the shipwrecked stories fans.
However, the series remains IMO a bit below the other WMT. Its main weakness is its length: how can you make an interesting anime, where, during about 30 episodes (10 hours!) you just see 5 characters whose only surroundings are the sea and palm trees? J.D.Wyss' novel wasn't suitable to be adapted in such a long story. That's why I feel a bit bored when I watch "Vroni" (the end is quicker moving and more interesting, though).

Vroni in France:

Like many WMT, the series arrived in France on the channel La 5. It was then shown on TF1. It was then broadcasted on TMC (in 1997-98 and 1999-2000), and on AB cartoon / Manga (six times in total). The French beginning is interpreted by Claude Lombard.

Vroni in Germany:

The series has been broadcasted on tele 5 (dead channel) and TV München (local network?). The Japanese song was kept as a beginning song in the German version of "Vroni"

Vroni in Italy:

Vroni was last shown on Italia 1 in 1995, April 99 and June 2000. The Italian version used to have a song interpreted by "I cavalieri del RE", but last braodcast took place with a new opening, by ... Cristina D'Avena again! The series was also renamed for this broadcast; it became "L'isola della piccola Flo".
