Version française
Judy is an orphan girl who lives in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. She has a gift for writing, and is helped by a mysterious benefactor who gives her the opportunity to study in a private high school. However, she knows nothing about this person, not even his name. As she has heard he is very tall, she nicknames him "Daddy Long Legs".
I hardly know this series. It's sometimes said to be a bit shôjo, but I cannot confirm it. The character design is a bit disappointing, perhaps because of the return of Seki Jun'Ichi who had drawn the characters of he old WMT (all of them between 1978 and 1982, except Anne).
The series has been broadcasted on TF1 in 1992. It was also shown on the Cable channel TMC in 1996, and then on Manga on the satellite (Summer 99 and May-June 2001).
The Germans are quite unlucky: after a few tapes (with no more then ten episodes) were released by Concorde Video, they had to wait until January 2001 so that a channel (RTL2) finally decided to broadcast this series. Sadly, some poor ratings were enough to make it disappear from the programs after only 20 episodes.
The last broadcast of the series took place on Italia 1 on December 1995. It has a beginning song interpreted by Chistina D'avena.
Papá Piernas Largas as the Spanish say has been shown 3 times on the channel Antena 3 on Spring 1995, Summer 2000 and February 2001.
