Story:

The story of young John who one day takes in an abandoned dog (Lassie). The series relates the friendship between the young boy and his dog, who is endowed with an exceptional intelligence.

Personal comments:

I have only seen a few pictures of the series on the web. Apparently, the artwork on the character design is poorer than usual for a Nippon Animation anime, particularly John face, which seems to be very "simplified". Moreover, the story only bears little resemblance with the original novel, which relates the journey of Lassie in search of her masters. Finally the series was hastily stopped in September 1996 (all the previous ones had stopped in December), after only 26 episodes. The WMT fans had good reasons to worry after the end of Lassie.
