Broken Bow Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten: Demon from Another World

Anubis looked at his young sister. Ever since that incident she had been acting as if nothing had happened. He wanted to prod, but she made it known that she did not feel like talking. He watched her back disappear into the nearby forest and silently prayed that she would be all right. Unfortunately, that was not to be…

Nanile watched in the shadows at the young 15 year-old. She licked her lips in anticipation. Sooner or later, the time would come…sooner or later… Kyra meditated, not moving a muscle. Eyes closed, she extended her power until she found something negative in the energy field. Hands on her yari, she headed to the exact place where Nanile was hiding!

Nanile pounced! After a few minutes fight, Nanile cut her across her face and seized the chance to enter her body. Kyra screamed out loud, and her world went black.

Sage was meditating at the time he got the headache. It was intense, and full of warning. Only after it was gone did he regain feeling. He headed downstairs because Mia was calling everyone to lunch. That’s when the weird stuff started happening.

Kyra arrived looking her usual self, and everyone sat down. Only when they were about to eat, did chaos rise to the occasion. At first the disasters were little normal ones, but they grew steadily worse. The furniture was moving by itself, and attacking everyone! And that wasn’t the only thing.

There were several blackouts, and scenes of mass destruction. And it happened when Kyra was around. It was on that fated day that Mikey the tarantula had gone to hunt for flies when he spied a dark shadow.

He took a peek in Kyra’s room. Years of living with the warlord of deception had taught him to see the truth behind the illusion. A demon was hovering above Kyra’s body. She was catlike, and had black claws. His eyes, all 8 of them widened when she plunged a claw in Kyra’s shoulder. He needed no more information and scurried away.

Unfortunately for Mikey, his owner was busy. All his pleas for attention went unnoticed. When Dais said “Not now, Mikey. I’m busy.” Mikey had had enough. He hopped up-WAY UP-all the way to Dais’s ear and screeched. I mean, really screeched. It echoed through the whole house before Dais chased the banshee-arachnid.

But it was worth it. Mikey had a pile of teenagers underneath him. He hopped down and scurried to Dais. “Mikey, you are sooo-…” Dais was cut in mid-sentence by Mikey’s clickings. Cale was about to complain when Dais held his hand up. “Guys, I think Mikey knows something we don’t.” Anubis wrinkled his nose at the arachnid. Did it really have to go through this much trouble just to get their attention?!

Dais listened to the tarantula. At one point his eyes widened as big as saucers. He grabbed the spider and whispered something to Anubis, whose eyes got even bigger, and managed to say “Get the others and meet us at the basement.” In a rather choked voice. The remaining warlords streaked off. Within seconds, everyone was at the basement. Anubis swallowed hard. This was going to be hard. Too hard.

“Tonight we are holding a meeting involving the recent events over the past few days. Up till now, we had no idea what caused the chaos, who was responsible, and why. But things have taken a turn for the worse.”

At hearing this, everyone looked up at him. Looks of puzzlement on their faces. He gathered up all his courage and spit out the words: “There is a demon here.” Everyone looked at him, thinking it had been sent by the Dynasty, he looked at them crossly and said: “Whatever it is, its not from the Nether realm.” The last thing anyone wanted to hear.
