Chapter Eleven: We Go to The Crypt  

Rowan could not believe his ears. The one person he started to have feelings for, was being controlled by a demon from another world. They had all suggested things that would ward off the demon. Ryo had suggested an exorcist, but Anubis refused to try that point-blank, saying it was a demon from another realm, and normal exorcism didn’t work on them. “Our best options are, either going to a temple in the demon’s realm that represents the opposite, or…” He couldn’t say it.

Rowan looked at him. He realized that the other option was killing the wretched demon in a fane that represented its characteristics, thus killing the victim. He wished they didn’t have to go there. He really liked her. A noise was heard. Cye came in, carrying an unconscious Kyra.  

Rowan looked at Anubis, who looked back. Anubis looked at the impenetrable depths of space in Rowan’s eyes. He saw something different in them. Fear. Fear for Kyra. Anubis looked at Rowan, then Kyra, then Rowan again. “Our leader for this mission will be Rowan of The Strata.”  

While they were getting ready, Rowan thought about the tasks ahead. Apparently, for more background information on the demon, all 5 Warlords insisted that they checked out the Crypt. That is, The Antoria Crypt where the ashes of a ruling dynasty clan that was brutally murdered by Talpa lay in peace. Rowan was a bit surprised that Anubis knew the Crypt’s location. It was, according to the Warlords, in Dynasty territory, but quite a'ways from the gates to the Nether Realm.  

“So all we have to look for is a small shrine gate?” Kento asked. “Yes. One that has a dragon emblem.” “But Anubis, aren’t there hundreds of gates with dragon emblems?” “He’s got a good point.” “Guys, we’re looking for this particular emblem.” Rowan said, peeling an amulet that he was wearing around his neck.  

All the Ronins’s jaws dropped. If you saw the Mortal Kombat Insignia, you would have the same reaction. Anubis nodded. “Yep. That’s it.” Rowan looked at them. ‘Here we are about to go to a place God knows how dangerous. But—I’ll do it. I‘ll risk my life through thick and thin to save hers.’ He looked at them and said; “Let’s go.”
