The next day, the Ronins had arranged for a council to vouch for Rowan and
what
they bore witnesses for the other night. As everyone sat, Lord Elrond made his
way top the center and spoke; “We gather here today for a trial and council.
For
these warriors say that the 5th Ronin, of the house of Strata is innocent and
wrongly accused of shooting the Heiress.”
He turned to Cye, Sage, Anubis, and Legolas, who in a very heated argument
between the Warlords, Ronins, and Fellowship were all arguing about which 4
people would defend Rowan Hashiba.
Cye replied; “We know that Rowan is not the murderer, because he was
framed.”
Gildor objected to that. “We all know what weapons Luke’s armor
carries and how
they look like. Its obvious the lad who was with her was a decoy while he was
hidden in the bushes.”
“That’s not true!” Sage cried out. “Rowan would never
hurt Kyra. Why would he
try to assassinate her when he saved her life because he was madly in love with
her?!?!?” “That’s a real poser.” Said Rowan.
“Shut up, white-trash.” Said Kahil, a ruthless, arrogant, ignorant,
idiotic
explorer from Gondor who had his eye on Kyra. “Kahil, shut your damn mouth
for
once, and let us talk!” Shouted Cye. This took everyone aback. Cye was
normally
a calm person, but he changed really quickly when he was mad.
A long silence followed. Gandalf broke it by clearing his throat. Frodo stood
up and said; “We have evidence that Rowan was framed. Whoever did this
wanted
him out for the count.” “Show thy evidence.” Said Elrond.
Anubis took out a
yellow silk wrapped package and uncovered it on the table. Everyone huddled
around the table for a closer look.
The arrow was a hideous thing now. It seemed to rot away with a most repulsive
smell. Legolas drew his face away from the monstrosity, covering his nose.
“Yrrch!” He shouted.
Indeed, it smelled so strongly of orc that Anubis was forced to plunge it in
a
bucket of ice-cold water, in an attempt to kill away the smell. Gandalf studied
it carefully.
He turned to the Ronins and asked; “Did anything unusual happen last
night?”
Sage told him about what they witnessed. When he finished he said; “Other
than
that, nothing else happened. Why?”
“Its just as I feared. I was hoping I misinterpreted the arrow, but it
seems
there’s no error. That arrow was meant to activate a curse via orc’s
blood. The
first hit would do the preparations. The second…”
He never finished, as he was tackled by Rowan with full force. He was suddenly
afraid of the young man, since a dark blue fire was in his eyes. “Please
say
you’re not telling me what I think you’re telling me?” Pleaded
Rowan.
