Mia's Magic, Chapter 12
Ohayo y'all! It's me again! This is the much anticipated Chapter 12! Please read my bio, cuz that's where all the thankies will go from now on, as well as any other important info. Story time!
CHAPTER 12
Jared and Mia circled each other, unblinking. The mage-chain kept Jared from getting between Ryo and Mia, but Ryo wasn't too happy being dragged in a circle. He kept quiet, though, because he knew Mia would need to focus on this battle. Jared's extremely low patience disappeared suddenly as he charged, bringing his sword up in an attempt to overpower Mia. She blocked with her jittes crossed, then kicked at Jared. Her knee caught him between the legs, causing Jared to stagger backward in pain. Ryo winced in sympathy, but that quickly evaporated. This guy deserved the punishment Mia was dishing out.
As Jared recovered from Mia's dirty blow, she drew magic from the universe's core of Love magic, and also drew a bit of Fire magic. She'd gained access to that when she and Ryo kissed, and was glad. Forming the magic into a discus, Mia threw it so that the magic disrupted some of the Order in the castle. It was a fact of magic that only Chaos itself was more disorderly than Love or Fire. When the Order magic had loosened its hold, Mia attacked Jared quickly. She charged him from behind, and just as Jared was standing Mia leapt over him and swung one jitte-the hilt of which connected with the blond man's jaw. Jared staggered backwards, shocked at the woman's sudden show of power.
Taking advantage of the fact that Jared was still off-guard, Mia rushed him and landed a combination of kicks and slashes. Jared desperately threw out his foot, and an unsuspecting Mia fell to the ground. She'd been moving so fast and hit the ground so hard that the air was knocked out of her, and from his spot Ryo saw the battle turn in Jared's favor. The warrior used one of his katanas to stand as Mia tried to get away from Jared, his anger growing when Jared began to viciously kick Mia in the gut.
"I'll teach you to reject me, Morgan! No one rejects Jared and lives!" Jared continued kicking Mia, screaming obscenities at her. Mia screamed in pain as Jared's foot cracked a rib, and Ryo saw red. Mia was being hurt, she was in danger! He had to protect her!
Both katanas drawn, Ryo charged at Jared. He caught the older man unawares, and one blade sliced into Jared's upper arm. Crying out in pain, Jared lifted his sword to counterattack. Ryo dodged nimbly out of the way, slicing down at Jared's sword with the intention of hitting it near the hilt. At the last instant Jared's hand moved forward, and then it was no longer there. An inhuman cry issued from his mouth, and the castle began to vibrate. Ryo stepped back, and felt Mia's hand on his wrist. Sheathing his swords, he looked at her.
"I need you to help me out some to finish this, Ryo," she said, touching his face. "We can't let Jared get away or he'll only come after me again, and the spell he has planned will be cast. You think you can handle this?" Ryo nodded, smiling a bit sadly.
"I don't wanna lose you now, Mia, not after all we've been through. You know I'd do practically anything for you." Mia smiled, then turned back to Jared. Unfortunately, his hand and sword were all that remained.
"Well this is just wonderful. I guess he didn't feel like watching the mush. Looks like we're going after him."
"Looks like," Ryo agreed. "What was that disc thing you made a few minutes ago?"
"Oh, that was a discus made of Love magic with a bit of Fire mixed in. It was just so the Order magic in here is disrupted. With enough time it will dissolve entirely, and Jared will grow weaker as this happens. He can't have gotten very far, so let's go ahead and finish this." The two began walking again, and both noticed a trail of blood on the floor. They followed it, and heard grunting. Ryo and Mia turned the corner and lo and behold (I've always wanted to say that ^_^), there was Jared. There was a strong aura of magic around him, but neither Mia nor Ryo could tell what exactly he was doing.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Mia said, and suddenly there was a blinding flash of light. Mia stumbled backwards, and the world around her went black.
