Mia's Magic, Chapter 14
Here ya go, everyone! The end of Mia's Magic! I'm way too into happy endings, so I just had to write one. Don't forget to tell me what you think!
CHAPTER 14
Kento was worried. He felt Ryo and Mia had been gone far too long, and had begun to worry that maybe Jared actually got Mia this time. Because Kento was worried, he had gone to the kitchen and started to eat whatever he could find. He was starting on a turkey and cheese sandwich when he heard a light thump in the dining room. Taking his sandwich with him, Kento cautiously left the kitchen to find the source of the noise.
Yuli was leaning against the wall, rubbing his head. "Mia really needs to work on where she puts those portals," he said, and Kento dropped his sandwich. White Blaze immediately waltzed into the room and ate it in one bite, then turned to Yuli.
"Yuli, dude, you're back!" Kento realized out loud, forgetting about his sandwich. Everyone in the house thought of Yuli as a little brother, and even though it had only been a little over a day since he'd been kidnapped, they had all (well actually Sage, Kento, and the Nether-gang) missed him greatly. "C'mon, we gotta tell the others!" Kento sat Yuli down on White Blaze, and the three of them went into the living room. Kayura was talking with Sage and Dais, and Sekhmet was talking to Tickles. Kale was amusing himself by making shadow puppets with his hands-something he was very good at, since his armor drew its power from darkness. "Hey! Yuli's back, you guys!" Nine eyes acknowledged Kento's return, and then everyone was up, asking about what had happened and how the fight was going.
"Wait a minute!" Kayura interrupted. "Give the kid a little breathing room. Now, Yuli, can you tell us how things were going when you were sent back here?" Yuli thought back to his rescue before answering.
"When I left, Ryo and Mia hadn't found Cye and Rowen yet, but they were looking for Jared, and destroying the castle in the process. I don't know what the deal is, but I think Jared made the castle completely from Order magic. Mia said that she'd send Cye and Rowen home as soon as they found them, too. Now, can I get a little first aid here?"
"Alright. Back up, everyone," the Ancient instructed, and her staff appeared. A golden glow covered Yuli, and after a few moments the boy's minor wounds were completely gone while the major wounds had become minor ones. "Now, let's get you some food and then put you to bed," Kayura said as she ushered Yuli back through the doorway, her maternal instincts kicking in. As she set food on the table for Yuli, Kayura found herself wishing she had her own child to take care of. It's only logical, I guess. I'm more than four centuries old, so why wouldn't I want to have a child? Oh, well, I can worry about that later. Right now I need to pray for Ryo and Mia to win.

Half an hour had gone by since the rescue of Yuli when Jared woke up. An explosion rocked the castle, and Jared realized he only had the strength for perhaps one finalizing spell. Struggling to his feet, Jared leaned his shoulder against the wall so he could put more of his remaining energy into the spell. He focused, and began to speak in his native magical language.
"-She loves me not now,
For me she lacks lust,
I cast this spell to change her heart,
For love me now she must.
I loved her as Morgan long ago;
A magic's servant she'll always be;
From the other who holds her heart,
Steal it away and give it to me!-"
As Jared spoke the spell's final words, the last wall separating him from Ryo and Mia was destroyed. Seeing them, he began to giggle madly. "You've lost, Morgan! I cast the spell! You're mine for eternity and there's nothing you can do! Say goodbye, Ryo, she loves me again! She loves me!" Jared slid back to the floor. He still had the energy for a simple kamikaze spell . . . he'd die with his Morgan, and Ryo would never know her love . . .
"~Self-destruction! Destroy all around me!~" Jared cried. Mia understood this, and turned to Ryo.
"We have to finish him now. Do exactly as I do!" Ryo nodded, and grimly mimicked Mia's motions. Simultaneously they leapt into the air, bringing the hilts of their swords together as they raised them above their heads. Power flowed into the four blades, and the connection between the two allowed them to shout the sure-kill that could only be used with the Star Swords and the Armor of Wildfire's katanas. This attack was the only one Mia knew would save them from Jared's self-destruction.
"STAR FIRE BURN!" Red magic shot towards Jared, who was glowing white as he neared the point where he'd explode, taking anything nearby out with him. The white light enveloped his form, destroying it, and turned black with the evil that had built up within him over the years. The black magic met with the red, and the forces seemed for a time to be evenly matched.
Determined to win, Ryo and Mia both poured even more of their energy into the attack. The blackness was pushed back until it encountered the remaining walls of the castle. The structure was annihilated, and the remnants of Jared's magic faded. Falling to the ground, Mia and Ryo let the exhaustion take over as they both passed out.

Cye and Rowen were shocked when the black-and-white floor beneath them was replaced by grass. Cye had used the water in their prison to rapidly erode their chains, then compacted it into a smaller area until the pressure was enough to crush on of the walls. From that point on they'd both been wandering around the castle in full armor, hoping to find their two friends.
When they realized the entire castle had been destroyed, Cye and Rowen started to search for Ryo and Mia. It wasn't that hard-the entire area was just a flat expanse of earth with short green grass and the occasional wildflower. Powering down to subarmor, the two young men made their way over to their landlady and leader.
"Well, they're both unconscious," Rowen stated once he'd checked both for a pulse and breathing.
"Good. We should be able to get them home, I think," Cye replied. "We just have to go to our battle-forms."
"Yeah. I guess we missed all the fun, though, huh, Cye?"
"Yeah. Too bad-I was having so much fun playing 20 Questions!"
"Shut up," Rowen said, and went to battle-form the way Mia had taught them only yesterday-had it really only been yesterday? Rowen shrugged and looked at Cye. "You ready to go?"
"Ready when you are." Cye picked Ryo up, Rowen got Mia, and both novice magic users said the spell that Mia had taught them.
"~To home!~"
EPILOGUE
Mia sighed happily as she finished putting the pictures into a photo album. Eight months had passed since the incident with Jared, and only a month ago she and Ryo had been married. Mia's favorite picture was the one where she and Ryo had imitated her parents-Ryo had worn a Western-style tux at the actual ceremony, and a traditional kimono at the reception, while Mia wore her mother's kimono at the wedding and her Western wedding dress at the reception. With Rowen making the necessary calculations to get the timing right, Cye had filled the air with water vapor to create a rainbow for the newlyweds a few hours before sunset. Everything had been perfect.
Just the way it should be, Mia thought.

THE END
AN: Just so y'all know, I was originally planning to have Jared just croak when he fell asleep, but I finished reading The Lost World for biology recently and Dodgson fell asleep while he was kinda heavily injured and then woke up to get killed another way, so I figured that would be a much better way to kill Jared off. Okay, I've stopped babbling, so please review!
