Fan's Insight on Voltes V

Fondest Childhood Memories
fdagan1

I'm writing to commend you on all of your work and effort in making and maintaining an excellent Voltes V site! I've basically spent half of my day's time just looking, reading, listening and reminiscing everything I've known about Voltes V as a child! And like most who wrote in the Insight section, I too felt instant emotional nostalgia. I had no idea that Voltes V had been around that long. It's even older than me! I'm also surprised to find that Ferdinand Marcos was responsible for its cancellation during that time but why he did so was pretty ridiculous. Oh well, I guess that only justifies him to be more of the dictator that he denied. But that wasn't the reason I didn't get to watch the whole series though. By the time I turned nine in 1989, I left the Philippines for America. Although I've grown to love the American culture through the years watching their cartoons, I've always longed for the unique distinctness expressed only in Voltes V. I wholefully agree on what you said about the anime transcending over social issues. It maybe just a child's cartoon, but the whole picture it presents through its stories and characters buries itself much deeper in a child's overall development than an oversized purple dinosaur!

Having Voltes V as one of my fondest childhood memories may have ultimately steered me towards a profession in the visual arts. I'm currently finishing my last year in the art and design school of UIC at Illinois as a film/video/animation major. As an artist, I'm constantly looking for new ideas and inspirations to create. And being in school for so long, (5 years and counting!) I've grown weary of finding new resources to use in my projects. After a week long of frustrating searches, I've finally shut down and decided to escape...to my childhood that is. So I got on the computer, typed in those magic words and out your site came! I looked at the cool illustrations and artwork like a child in a candy store. With this information, I now have material to work with for my openGL class and a place to go whenever I need to get away from the hard blowing winds of life.
